Tropical Cyclone Hit Port of Salalah

On 24 May a tropical cyclone, MEKUNU, hit Salalah bringing storm surges, heavy flash flooding, landslides, power outages and tremendous damage to infrastructure in the port city of Salalah, Oman.

Salalah Port terminal operations have been adversely impacted and Port of Salalah has declared Force Majeure.

All marine and cargo operations have been suspended, effective 24 May 2018, 1600 HRS local time.

Therefore, MSC has been forced to suspend its vessels’ calls to the Port of Salalah.

Cargo destined for Salalah will be transshipped to other safe ports and is expected to be subsequently transported to Salalah, when port operations resume.
