MSC is pleased to participate in the World Ocean Summit, a world-leading event which aims to build greater collaboration to safeguard to future and wellbeing of the oceans.

The event, hosted by The Economist, brings together political leaders and policymakers, heads of global business, scientists, NGOs and multilaterals from across the globe, and will aim to provide a forum for discussion amongst a more diverse and representative participation on the future of the ocean than ever before.

Bud Darr, Executive Vice President, Maritime Policy and Government Affairs at MSC Group, will take part in a panel discussion on “Shipping and the blue economy” at the event, which takes place 5-7 March in Abu Dhabi, the first time it has been hosted in the Middle East.

The panel discussion is at 4.30pm on 5 March, and will consider how the shipping industry can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including technological innovations, and what it can learn from innovative companies that are already taking the lead.

In absolute terms, total annual GHG emissions should be cut by at least 50% from the 2008 level by 2050, based on the International Maritime Organization vision.

MSC is committed to promoting a sustainable business model that goes far beyond a “business as usual” approach. It has a longstanding commitment to promote responsible and environmentally sound operational practices and procedures while extensively investing in carbon reduction and cutting-edge pollution prevention equipment.
