MUMBAI MAERSK - Incident on Albatros Service

Attn: customers with cargo onboard the vessel MUMBAI MAERSK on voyage 150W

Maersk has informed MSC that the vessel MUMBAI MAERSK was grounded outside Bremerhaven, Germany last night. According to the information received from the vessel operator, all crew are safe, there is no sign of pollution or hull breach. The vessel is still on ground on a shallow patch but not obstructing the entrance to the port and port operations are running as normal.

As a result of the incident, cargo meant to be discharged in Bremerhaven is still onboard, along with cargo destined for the Scandinavian destinations such as Aarhus and Gothenburg.

First attempts to refloat the vessel have been unsuccessful. The MUMBAI MAERSK was carrying cargo for MSC customers as part of our Albatros service. We will look into alternative options should the situation not be resolved quickly.

MSC very much regrets any inconvenience arising from this incident and will do the utmost to assist MSC customers to ensure the matter is handled as efficiently and smoothly as possible.

We will communicate again as soon as we have updated information to pass on to you from the vessel operator.
